Group Financial Controller, London

A unique hostel and boutique hotel company is looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to be based at their corporate office in London.

The role and duties will include:

Financial systems and control

  • Maintain and improve financial control and processes and integration with other business systems – this includes control systems within Head Office as well as within our assets
  • Responsible for balance sheet control and reconciliation
  • Optimising cash flow utilisation
  • Supporting the development and integration of key business software
  • Manage debt and equity draw downs
  • Reviewing monthly payroll

Compliance

  • Ensure systems are in place to ensure entities are fully compliant with regulatory and taxation requirements – to include company house filings, statutory accounts, income tax, corporation tax, VAT, PAYE
  • Ensure compliance with all debt facilities
  • Ensure costs are allocated correctly across the business and transfer pricing legislation is complied with

Management Information

  • Drive budget setting and reporting process across the business
  • Preparing monthly Management Accounts to set deadlines, including group consolidation
  • Forecasting income, expenditure and cash flow & tracking progress for each asset and for overhead
  • Debt facility reporting to banks

Commercial

  • Build strong and trusting relationships within the business
  • Keep abreast of changes in taxation accounting and tenancy law
  • Be instrumental in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial processes through-out the business
  • Drive the management reporting to provide timely, accurate and relevant information on the business
  • Work with legal and taxation advisors to ensure the overall business structure is optimised for efficiency

Skills

  • CCAB qualified accountant with broad demonstrable experience in the real estate industry.
  • Experience of creating statutory accounts, preferably IFRS
  • Experience of operating compliance systems
  • Experience of working directly with and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of running the financial function for an entity or division
  • Experience of setting up and managing internal control systems and reporting systems
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Highly organised and very proactive
