History of FM

Established in 1985 by Howard Field, FM Recruitment was an early specialist recruitment business in the hotel sector based in London.  Howard, who trained as a chartered accountant, became a Hotel Industry Finance professional and was latterly Finance Director of the Savoy Hotel Group, created FM Recruitment to provide a truly consultative solution for the recruitment of finance specialists for the hotel sector both in the UK and abroad.  

Jillian Malone, a Surrey University graduate and experienced hotel controller joined FM Recruitment in 1988 due to the demand for this specialist experience and advisory approach.  Jillian is now the Managing Director of FM Recruitment.

The team grew further with Chris Denison Smith, an experienced hotel financial controller, joining in 2000 .  He is now a Director of the company.   

After 20 years in offices in Regent Street and Mayfair in central London, FM Recruitment relocated to Hammersmith to purpose built offices which they have acquired for the long term.  Howard Field has retired from day to day activities with FM but remains as a retained advisor and FM Recruitment stays true to its original mission providing specialist and discrete recruitment services in financial management for the international hotel and leisure sector.

FM Recruitment joined forces with Madison Mayfair, a hospitality specialist, Executive Search firm in 2010.  Madison Mayfair is based at the same address, operated by Peter Malone and Guy Lean.

The company has also recently expanded to form FM Operations who recruit at middle management and department head level in operations roles in hotels.
